The 38 honorees are more than any other Big West institution. The Winter All-Academic Team is composed of student-athletes from men's and women's basketball and men's and women's swimming and diving teams.
 
To be eligible, scholar-athletes must carry a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.00, be at least a sophomore academically with one full year at the institution prior to this season and compete in 50 percent of their team's contests.
 
Triton senior swimmer Sabrina Bennani was highlighted for her perfect 4.0 GPA. Gray, the 2025 Big West Defensive Player of the Year, becomes the first Triton to reach the NBA.
 
In his final year as a Triton, Hayden Gray garnered recognition as The Big West's top defensive player and was a finalist for the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year. Gray led the nation in steals in 2024-25 with 110.

Gray spent the 2025-26 season with the Maine Celtics in the NBA G League. The San Diego native appeared in 48 games (23 starts) for the Celtics, averaging 9.9 points, 5.8 assists, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 steals in 27.9 minutes per game. She grew up 25 minutes from UC San Diego's La Jolla campus, in Chula Vista, the daughter of a father who played college baseball and a mother who played softball. By the time she arrived at UC San Diego as a freshman, the sport was as familiar to her as the Southern California sun. Finishing her degree in three years was not part of her plan.

"I didn't come into college planning on graduating early," she says. "I finished my sophomore year, and I was like, oh, I think I could maybe finish it this year. CSUN (20-13) was led by Larry Hughes II. He hit 14-of-25 field goal tries and scored a game high 34 points in the win. The Matadors advance to Friday's semifinal, where they'll face top-seed UC Irvine.
 
Beattie was one of three in double figures for the Tritons Thursday. Freshman Hudson Mayes poured in 17 – 14 after halftime – with five rebounds and four assists. UC San Diego has won 13 games outside of La Jolla – including a 5-0 mark in neutral site games (and two victories in this building this season).
