The 53 honorees tied UC Santa Barbara for the most among Big West institutions. This initiative will provide matched philanthropic support for scholar-athlete financial assistance, including Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL). All new gifts or commitments to the Triton Champions Fund will be matched 1:1, doubling your impact and the resources available to our programs. The Big West announced Wednesday that UC San Diego's Sylvana Northrop is the conference's Women's Athlete of the Year for the 2025 cross country season. The annual award is voted on by the league's head coaches. Northrop became the program's first Division I conference champion after winning the women's 6k at the Big West Cross Country Championships. The UC San Diego cross country season came to a close on Friday at the NCAA West Regional Championships, which saw the Tritons compete in a field of 40 teams. The Triton women finished 13th to improve three spots from their finish at this meet last year. UC San Diego cross country's Sylvana Northrop captured the program's first Division I conference championship on Friday when she won the women's 6k at the 2025 Big West Cross Country Championships. Dasha LeFaivre and Emma Dunmire both finished in the top 10 to join Northrop as All-Big West recipients. As a team the Triton women placed third with 82 points.
