The University of California San Diego track and field teams will add 15 standouts to its roster for the 2023-24 season.
The incoming class are all true freshmen with 14 scholar-athletes hailing from California and one from Connecticut. Five newcomers will represent the blue and gold in jumps, six in sprints, two in hurdles, and one each in throws and pole vault. The women's squad will welcome 10 new members while the men's side will welcome five new additions.
The Tritons will be entering their fourth season of NCAA Division I and Big West Conference competition this winter and spring. Last season, the Tritons posted 12 top 10 performances on the women's side with 15 top 10 performances posted by the men. Kyle Gibbs broke the UC San Diego pole vault program record twice in the spring and Marcos Milla broke the 23-year-old 10,000 meters record. On the academics side, 10 Tritons earned CSC Academic All-District recognition (5 men and 5 women).
Head coach Kim Graham-Miller is excited to welcome these new 15 to the roster and knows their immediate impact on the team will help the program continue building toward being a NCAA DI championship team.
