WVB: No. 17 UCSD Hits at a .356 Clip; Cruises to Sweep

The 17th-ranked UC San Diego women's volleyball team won its opener in the Triton Invitational by cruising past Notre Dame de Namur 25-15, 25-14, 25-17 on Thursday night.  With the win, UCSD improves to 3-1, while NDNU drops to 0-5.  Rebecca Bailey had a huge night with 17 kills against only two errors for a .469 hitting percentage.  Cara Simonsen added six kills on .667 hitting and Lauren Bradley also added six kills off the bench.  As a team, the Tritons hit at a .356 clip, while holding the Argonauts to just .072.  Roxanne Brunsting had a game-high 15 digs and Elaine Chen added 26 assists. || CONTINUE

WSOC: No. 4 Tritons and Cougars Play to Draw; UCSD Takes on Texas A&M Commerce Saturday

After 110 minutes played Wednesday night, the No. 4 UC San Diego women's soccer team ended up with a 0-0 draw against Cal State San Marcos. The two squads combined for 45 shots. Senior goalkeeper Jessica McGovern (Reseda, Calif.) totaled a career-high 10 saves on the evening for the Tritons (2-0-1) while posting her 22nd career shutout.
